  1. TheThere things are always so mystifying. But okay, I commented! Not with anything smart or interesting of fun, but…a comment?

  2. Partly mystifying because I left out some of the instructions at the bottom and in fact they still aren’t formatting quite as I want them to (soon to be fixed, I hope).

But it’s a great haul of books!

  3. That’s an interesting-looking list of books. I’d be happy to win them all.

  4. i love a good contest! it brings out the hopeful competitor in me. the selection looks amazing. thanx for the opportunity.

  5. Ooh! Books! All books belong to me. It is a natural law of the universe. I am sure you understand, of course. Mine!!!!!

  6. I only own copies of three of those books, so definitely useful if I win (if highly unlikely.)

  7. This is an amazing group of books in this giveaway. Great publicity tactic, with a real reward, because you can be pretty sure people will at least check out the books on the list. Of course I’ve read and own Cold Magic already and love it.

  8. Looks like an interesting list, a nice mix of names I recognize and like and names I’d like to try.

  9. Love contests, especially ones where I don’t have to put on armor and a helmet and drag around a sword that takes two hands to swing. It’s so much easier to read a book. Not finding your sword cause you can’t remember where you put it before you leave the castle is brutal. Books are easier to find.

    Great selection of reads…

  10. Am I bad that I want to win so I can annoy my mother-in-law with lots of news books, which she says are all stupid & take up too much room, in the bookshelf of disappearing book?

  11. Confusing thing about leaving a comment. The Rafflecopter thing makes you think that’s where you leave a comment – but apparently you need to leave a comment down here? Confusing.

The books sounds interesting, though – always interested in interesting new books. 🙂

  12. Kate – REALLY?! You have to tempt me with so many good-looking books when the last thing I need is more distractions while I write my dissertation?! Ah, well, more books on my To Read list! 🙂

  13. Oooh. Several of these have shown up on Scalzi’s Big Idea posts and as of yet, I only own ONE of them. That’s an awesome ratio. I think I need to share this around to get more people interested.

  14. I admire your work so much! If I win, I’ll lend the copy of your book to all my friends. <3

  15. Awesome group of books. Reminds me of the old F&SF competitions, though you had to be creative to win one of those. I miss them.

  16. What a fabulous collection of books. . . a few authors I’ve read before and enjoyed and a whole bunch I’ve been interested in trying. I’d love to win these!

  17. Books! I know I like Kate’s stuff, and MJRose…the others, well, I’d love to find out this way!

  18. Fantastic covers and fantastic giveaway. Hark… Doth thou hear the sound of thy book case groan with many words of splendour and intrigue? Art thou lifes real art bound in a cover of thy woven dream.

  19. Can we all just pretend I said something really profound? You know, “I like books” seems too simple

  20. I will be graduating from college soon and will be needing something to read. Thank you for the opportunity with the giveaway, even if I don’t win I hope to pick up a copy of Cold Magic soon. 🙂

  21. Early Christmas, this is! And what a great way to be introduced to new authors. Fingers crossed! 🙂

  22. Please save me from trying to find these at the library (Cold Magic is particularly hard to track down- always on the other side of town).

  23. What an amazing collection of books. I have only read one of them so winning would open up a new world of adventure for me.

  24. Oh gosh, look at all this wonderful fantasy!

And I could give use a second copy of Cold Magic to give to a friend and lure more people into my interests, *evil laughter*.

  25. All of these books sound fascinating, and there are some new to me authors in the list that I am now going to go and look up – I would love to win them.

  26. wow, exciting! it’d be really cool to win, but good luck to everyone!

  27. A great chance to get several books from some truly great authors! A wonderful contest!

  28. I was trying to figure out what the story was like for the book Win Fantastic Fiction– and then I got it. Right. Time for tea.

  29. These would definitely help contribute to my dream of having a Belle-sized library. 🙂

  30. Wow. Some really amazing books there! I wish I do win, but if I don’t… Congrats to the winner!! And I’m putting them on my to-read list anyway… to search for at the local library! 🙂

  31. Very interesting assortment of books. I must remember to bookmark this page to get some new authors. 🙂

  32. Resisting temptation while writing the dissertation only makes you stronger. Right?

  33. I know. I think there were some constraints given the number of authors and where they are based (and published).

However, I am going to do some giveaways here in the next few months (lead in to Cold Steel) and my contests are always open internationally.

  34. The prospect of being added to 16 different mailing lists is kind of terrifying — I already have trouble finding my real e-mail in with all the newsletters and things, and I’m constantly unsubscribing from stuff to try and keep the flood under control. But I can’t resist… So. Many. Books!

  35. That’s very true.

I don’t even HAVE a newsletter but I am trying to use this contest as a way to push myself to get one. But if I can get it together, it would come out quarterly at best, so you don’t need to worry about hearing from me too frequently!

  36. This is such a lovely give-away! Even if I don’t win, I have new novels to add to my “should read” list.

  37. So many authors I haven’t read yet but now definitely on my to do list 🙂

  38. Holy cow. That’s a sexy list of books! Looks like I may have to buy some if I don’t win this thing.

  39. I think a bunch of these books were up for best cover of the year at the time. This is such a cool giveaway.

  40. How do you enter? I never found a form to fill out. Is just logging in with your FB account or e-mail all it takes?

  41. Love book giveaways 🙂 it’s one of the best ways to get into a new series…or get an early copy of ones to do want.

  42. As far as I can tell it’s just a matter of following the forms given you on the Rafflecopter widget (log in with FB or email). But to be honest, I haven’t done it (because I can’t enter the contest!)

  43. My entire family will be thrilled if we win… it’s hard keeping three voracious readers in books!

  44. Wow so many of these are on my want to read list, and most of the rest look like they are about to be added. Thanks for the chance to win them!

  45. I love the free book giveaways, it seems like they’ve increased a lot in the last few years. Or maybe I am just following a lot more authors, agents and publishing house folk these days. Gracias!~ 🙂

  46. While I ahd Cold Magic (And am in the middle of reading it) I figure an extra copy just means I can actually push it into the hands of a friend and say “read this!” as much as I want to. And I don’t have any of the others yet.

  47. So I totally have two or three of the books in the giveaway but I’d totally love the rest. Thank you for giving us the chance to win this!

  48. No idea where I’d put 17 more books in my room, but I’ll think about that when the postman delivers 🙂

  49. I was just looking at the History of Dragons in the bookstore the other day and coveting it. The other books look good as well. I want them ALL.

  50. This set of books looks like it should tide me over until Cold Steel comes out 🙂

  51. An extra copy of Cold Magic to help get friends hooked, plus an enormous heap of books I haven’t read. Sounds fantastic…except for the part where I’m about out of space on the bookshelves. But it would be a good sort of problem to have. Is this in honor of something in particular or just random book goodness?

  52. Alma Katsu spearheaded it. I think authors in general are always trying to raise their profiles in this wildly over-informated world.

  53. Wow what a great prize – haven’t read lots of these books so it would keep me busy for quite some time and hopefully introduce me to some great authors!

  54. Waaaah, booooooooks. Especially since there is such a good variety of types of fantasy, I now want them all badly.

(I know, not a very productive comment. But a comment nonetheless.)

  55. What an amazing selection! And I’ve just bought a new book shelf that is DESPERATE for new books 🙂

  56. What a wonderful collection of books. Even if I don’t win (which I hope I do), I’m sure some of these will find their way to my shelves soon. 🙂

  57. I’ve read some of your books and eagerly await more. I look forward to reading some of these as recommendations!
